Hiking, Mt. Biking and Paddling Apps

Win an iPhone App

June 15, 2011: Win an iPhone or Droid phone app for hiking, mountain biking or canoeing & kayaking.
Here's the basics, earn points by:
1) submitting photos of your hike, ride or paddle in the central ADK area featured in the web map
2) winning one or more trivia contests

You will need to be a fan of our Facebook page (Facebook link above right) to participate in the contest. Person with the most points by Labor Day will win for this season.

We're working on the apps right now, they will be submitted to the store in a couple weeks.

Contest officially starts today (June 15) and points will be recorded. A spreadsheet will be linked on this page of the website to track points. Receive 1 point each time you are the first person to correctly answer a weekly trivia question. Trivia questions will feature hikes, rides or paddles in the region, or a sponsoring business.

Receive more points for every photo you submit showing you and/or your family or friends out hiking, mt. biking or canoeing/kayaking in the Central Adk region. Maximum of 3 photos can be submitted at a time. Be sure to describe what trail or waterway you are on please, and approximately how far along you are when the photo was taken (GPS coordinates would be awesome if provided, but not required). Photos must be "rated G".

The winner will be chosen after Labor Day 2011, and must have a minimum of 6 points to qualify.

The fine print: all photos submitted on Facebook may be used by Mohawk Valley GIS (creator of the recreation webmap) to help promote the website, either online or through traditional print advertising. Credit will be given to photo submittor if desired.
